I know not whether it is curse or destiny that propels me, nor if my heart will withstand the trials to come. All I know is that I must confront these horrors unbound by any fear for your sakes.

Forgive me if my departure rends you asunder. Unbra, I fear that without my mortal pulse to anchor you, the world’s chill may envelop your immortal heart. Caleram, I dread that my silence may unravel your spells, allowing runes to fade and purpose to slip away like ash through your fingers. And Fabi, my dear trickster, I long for the echo of your laughter in moonlit glades—and yet I become mist to spare you the chains of my shadowed destiny.
